Superglass is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of glass mineral wool insulation, and a firm favourite with MKM customers as it’s so easy to use and install.  Their glass mineral wool products conserve heat to make homes warmer and more comfortable, as well as reducing energy bills for homeowners. Take a further look into why choosing glass mineral wool from Superglass is a great choice.

What it does

Glass mineral wool offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation that can easily help to meet regulations and does the job well. It’s made from molten glass, spun into fine fibres and then made into a wool-like material that traps air, to prevent heat and intrusive sound getting through. Glass is also naturally non-combustible, so all Superglass products carry a fire classification of Euroclass A1 – one of the highest possible ratings available. It’s also a breathable material so can help reduce the risk of condensation in a building.

Installing glass mineral wool is easy and economical. Available in rolls or slabs, Superglass insulation is effectively ‘made to measure’ – it fits between joists or timber studs and is easily cut to size, leaving no gaps for heat to escape and minimising waste (and time) on-site.

The way it’s made

Glass mineral wool is an exceptional material – and Superglass insulation even more so, being produced in Scotland, one of the most advanced insulation manufacturing plants in Europe.

Using lean production techniques, the process minimises energy consumption and maximises the use of water and raw materials, reducing the amounts needed and recycling waste back into the system. This, and the fact it’s created from up to 84% recycled glass, gives Superglass insulation outstanding sustainability credentials.

Non-combustible product solution

With Superglass, you have the reassurance of the glass mineral wool being completely non-combustible. As a result, all Superglass products have a Euroclass A1 fire classification when tested to BS EN 13501-1 Reaction to Fire – one of the highest possible ratings. According to that standard, ‘Euroclass A1 products will not contribute in any stage of the fire including the fully developed fire’. That means they help protect buildings against fire by not supporting the spread of flames, thus limiting damage and helping to keep occupants safe.
