As the winter months are creeping in, your house will naturally begin to get colder and colder. And, with energy prices rising, you may feel reluctant to turn on the heating, and settle for huddling under blankets. One of the most effective ways to retain heat in the house for prolonged periods of time, is through loft roll insulation - also a fantastic way to reduce those bills.

Loft roll insulation… what is it?

Our latest recommendation for loft roll insulation is the Superglass Multi-Roll, which is available in a range of lengths. This product can be used in new and existing roofs, to help keep that heat in during the winter months.

If your existing loft roll insulation is squashed with the weight of storage items, or if it hasn’t been changed since you bought the house, it may be worth checking to see if it needs a top-up. This will ensure that heat is not escaping from your roof as it rises.

The versatility of Superglass Multi-Roll is that it can be rolled out and rolled back up. So, if you don’t want to over-heat your home during summer, the loft roll can be packed up and stored until the colder months.

DIY: How to install

The process of installing Superglass Multi-Roll could not be simpler, and you can install the roll yourself. The roll is flexible and perforated to make for easy installing between loft joists and leaves minimal waste. Whenever you are installing loft roll, it is key to make sure the loft is dry and clean, so the roll is not affected and can be reused. We recommend installing the first layer between the loft joists, and the second laid at right angles to cover the joists. The loft roll will fit snug in your loft, it’s as simple as that.

Always remember to be safe, wear goggles and a mask to protect yourself from the fibres.

Quick, easy, and beneficial

While your home will be nice and toasty, and that is a good enough reason to install loft roll, there are many more benefits. The thermal performance of this insulation is excellent and can even save you around 20% on your energy bills, according to insulation specialists at Superglass. As well as this, the Money Saving Supermarket have estimated a total of up to £590 can be saved per year when insulating an uninsulated roof.
Thanks to the product being classified as A1, the loft roll is completely non-combustible so your home is protected, if the worst should happen. The insulation is designed to help stop the fire from spreading and allow time for occupants to evacuate.
