A growing demand combined with modern manufacturing has lead to the availability of affordable large format tiles. Also known as XL tiles, or simply ?big? tiles, they create an illusion of space in smaller rooms as bigger tiles means fewer grout lines. The Soften range is perfect for bathrooms where space is at a premium. Large format tiles may require two people for fitting and should be back-buttered to ensure that suitable contact with the tile is achieved. We recommend trowelling the substrate with a thick solid bed trowel (usually 12mm).

As a rectified tile, the Soften range is a tile which has been mechanically cut to an exact size. Both ceramic and porcelain tiles can be rectified but it is typically more common with large porcelain floor tiles. Tiles that are not rectified can have very slight variations in size so rectification produces exact facial dimensions with more precise and narrow grout lines when tiling.
